Leather, leather everywhere – there wasn’t an article of clothing that you couldn’t find in leather this season on the runway. Sure, leather is usually associated with a harsh, rock-chic vibe, but now this fall favorite is being paired with more delicate pieces, such as a sweet lace dress or feminine polka dots for a softer, more versatile look. We all have that classic leather jacket in our closet, but this fall go further by upgrading other staple items with a touch of leather.

Example – a little black dress is great, but a little black leather dress is even better. The clean lines and luxe quality of the fabric vamp up the traditional look and give your wardrobe another dimension. Leather leggings are also a great way to put a spin on that classic pair of black skinny jeans. Dress it up with a blazer or go casual with an oversized sweater, either way it will make sure you are right on trend.

While wearing multiple leather pieces may seem risky, when done right it can be both a flattering and fashionable addition to your personal style.

Wine shades returned to intoxicate the 2012 runway this fall season with hues ranging from bold red to deep burgundy. Merlot, Bordeaux, Cabernet and more were just some of the colors that came uncorked and found themselves in the collections of many designers including Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, and Gucci.

Like fine wine, these rich garnet reds are not only complimentary, pairing perfectly with camel and charcoal grey, but they also stand well on their own, being able to be worn as a monochromatic look. Trendspotting: Chevron Pattern

This zig-zag print has a definite history, having been seen in badges, architecture, and early pottery, but in 2012 the chevron pattern evolved and emerged as a popular trend in women’s fashion and home styling.

There are many wonderful things about this geometric print, but its best attribute has to be its versatility. Drastically different looks can be achieved simply by having the stripes close together or far apart, in bold colors or subtle hues, or when being used as a small accent or as a statement piece.

Another great aspect of this trend is its adaptable, do-it-yourself quality. Due to the simplicity of this pattern, it has become a go-to design for craft projects, being painted on everything from picture frames to rugs and even being used in the re-purposing old furniture.

Summer is all about color, color, and more color! Bright hues are popping up all over the place this season, from clothing to accessories, but our favorite show of color has to be the newest trend – nail polish.

The shades of the seasons have been brought to life by popular nail polish lines, with vibrant fuschias and corals, neon yellows, and bright purple and blue hues making a statement. These pops of color are not exactly subtle, but they are the perfect addition to any look and are a great way to get into a summer state of mind!

Sweet, small, and stylish – what is there not to love about cupcakes?  From the moment Carrie and Miranda devoured their cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery on Sex in the City, the cupcake trend took off. More than ten years later, it is safe to say that it is now no longer a trend, but rather an indulgence that is here to stay.

The individual size of a cupcake gives you just enough to satisfy a craving and the diversity of its decoration makes it perfect for any occasion. These elements, along with others, make cupcakes a perfect dessert, and many people agree. We are seeing the cupcake love everywhere as people opt for these mini cakes over the traditional larger ones. They are seen as substitutes for wedding cakes, stacked as decorative treat tiers at baby showers, and as the centerpiece of many themed parties.

But it doesn’t just extend to parties and deserts. We are also seeing plenty of programming centered around cupcakes, including the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and TLC’s DC Cupcakes.
