Lollapalooza Instagram Contest Winner

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Lollapalooza, we challenged Instagram users to share nostalgic photos revealing the magic that turned Jane’s Addiction 1991 Farewell Tour into one of the most epic music festivals of all time. Our team traveled to the Chicago, Illinois during the first weekend of August to help stir up some Instagram fun with the 90,000+ crowd attending Lollapalooza each day.

We received hundreds of amazing photos and chose one randomly to win the grand prize. Colton Crowe of Illinois was the lucky winner of the 20th Anniversary frame, signed by Perry Farrell, with all eight versions of our Lollapalooza cases!

Check out some of the great photos we received.

Also make sure to check out the four limited edition designed cases for sale in the Lollapalooza online store.

Jay & Silent Bob Design Winners!

We’re sorry for the delay, but there were so many great Jay and Silent Bob designs that Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes needed a little more time to look through and decide which they would select as the winners.

On July 21, we launched our Jay & Silent Bob design contest on Facebook in partnership with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes at Comic-Con. We asked our fans to submit an original design using iconic scenes, lines and references to Jay and Silent Bob as inspiration.

After two weeks we received more than 250 incredible designs! At the close of the submission period we printed the ten designs with the most votes on our Facebook contest leaderboard, and five others that we really liked internally, onto iPhone 4 cases to send to Smith and Mewes. We also sent them a book with ALL the designs submitted, so they could see all the other great submissions. EVERY design submitted into this contest was viewed and had a chance to be chosen as one of the final winners.

On Friday morning, Aug. 12, Kevin and Jay were given the 15 cases and entire book of designs to review as they rode from Los Angeles to their next show in Las Vegas. They went back and forth during the four and a half hour drive to Vegas arguing which designs to choose – and said it was a very tough decision. They passed out the 15 cases to their team and are wearing their favorites – check out Kevin Smith’s iPhone.

After great debate Kevin and Jay chose the following designs. Congratulations to the winners!

Grand Prize Winner:  “Snoogans” By: Martin Laksman

1. Runner Up: “Jay & Silent Bob Eat BRAINS” By: Michael Batista

2. Runner Up: “Hetero life-mates” By: Manuel Peters

Jay & Silent Bob Design Contest

Kevin Smith is in the hizzzzzouse with us at Comic-Con, and we want you help us design a series of limited edition Jay and Silent Bob iPhone 4 cases! All you need to do is submit an original design using iconic scenes, lines and references to Jay and Silent Bob as your inspiration on our Facebook Page. And you better get your creative juices flowing for this contest because the three winning entries will be chosen by the fellas themselves, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes!

“My Father taught me to weigh my words carefully, and speak up only when I had something insightful to add to the proceedings, or something really funny to say. He also taught me that if I couldn’t be that kind of guy in real life, that I could earn a healthy living pretending to be that guy in the movies–particularly when paired up with a long haired stoner.” ~ Kevin Smith, My Boring Ass Life

Design Inspiration

Silent Bob’s distinguishing features are his long coat, dark hair, beard, and backwards baseball cap. True to his name, Silent Bob rarely speaks but when he does he often has something profound or thoughtful to say, delivering insightful monologues to the other characters only in appropriate situations. Otherwise he relies on hand gestures and facial expressions to communicate. Jay once mentioned that Silent Bob rarely talks because he feels he leaves a major impact when he does speak.

Jay is thinner and slightly taller than Bob, and has long blond hair. In several of the later View Askewniverse films, Jay wears a black beanie. In Clerks, the first film to feature the duo, Jay wears a baseball cap.

Design Requirements

  • Submit ONE (1) unique, original illustrations. 2000×2000 pixel JPEG. (Use our DIY tool to see what your design will look like on an iPhone 4 case.)
  • Include BOTH Jay and Silent Bob in your design
  • Include the text, “Jay and Silent Bob” in your design
  • All designs must be uploaded by 11:59pm PST on Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Design Restrictions

  • Do not submit copyrighted work. (If you see artwork that belongs to another artist please let us know, by providing a link to the original, so we can delete it from the contest.)
  • Don’t use clip art or photos
  • Entries deemed offensive or vulgar will be disqualified. (Yes, we know it’s Jay and Silent Bob. Just try to be reasonable – we’ll be as open-minded as possible.)

Grand Prize

  • Three designs will be chosen: one (1) Grand Prize and two (2) runners-up.
  • One (1) Grand Prize winning designer will be awarded $500. The two (2) runners-up will be awarded $100 each.
