Wireless Power Consortium Meeting in Tokyo

March 15th, 2010 Vik Patel No comments

I’ve been representing case-mate (and case-mate’s new product, the Hug!) at the Japanese headquarters of Amway in Tokyo for the Wireless Power Consortium over the past few days.

The response to the Hug is excellent; everyone is stoked about a member of the WPC finally launching a product and can’t wait to throw this into the next gear! The consortium is working on finalizing the ‘chi’ standard for interoperability. This includes “very techy stuff” about volts and milli amps. We even had to call in Einstein to consult on a few quantun physics theories!

The picture below is actually taken from the mens bathroom on the executive floor. It took three days for the weather to clear enough to get this spectacular view –  it was definitely worth the wait though!

Hug it Out on Monday, March 8th

March 5th, 2010 Dayna No comments

We can all agree, hugs are pretty nice right? Well on Monday, March 8th, we at case-mate wanna give YOU a Hug.

Now you may be asking yourself what’s so special about a Hug from case-mate? The Hug is case-mate’s latest wireless charging pad and case for the iPhone 3G/3GS that “hugs” your battery back to life. Way better than any old air hug or bear hug right?

So, for your chance to win one, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/casemate), invite all your friends to do the same, and tell us why you think your iPhone deserves a Hug with the hashtag #ihugitout for a chance to win a free Hug!

The contest will begin at 8 a.m. EST on March 8th and end at 11:59 p.m. on March 8th. A tweet with the hashtag #ihugitout counts as an entry, each user may only enter the contest once. The winner will be randomly selected. We will announce the contest winner via our blog and twitter by Friday, March 12.

Shhhh… Don’t Tell the Papa-papa-razzi

February 8th, 2010 Dayna No comments

Things get crazy at case-mate over the weekends…

I sent an email (as a joke) to the staff here on Friday, asking for celebrity look a-like nominations to post on the blog (not intending to actually post anything) with this doctored-up picture of my boss, Andrew Knight (below) sparking a wave of responses and submissions.

Well apparently I missed the memo, as I was shortly informed by other co-workers that Andrew’s celebrity twin is actually Danny from Full House.

The tidal wave of emails I got in response to my original request for nominations was so hilarious that I just have to post some of them here.

Industrial Designer Alex Marshall and our very own author of The PD Slice, Fairbanks

Product Coordinator, Hugh Eaton as Neil Patrick Harris, Steve McQueen or Daniel Craig?

Project Manager, Product Development, Josh Bannister aka Jesse Metcalfe

Key Account Manager, case-mate Europe or is it Bradley Cooper???

We already knew we had loads of star talent here, maybe it’s time for us to open an LA office?

Case-mate Basketball Throw-down

January 29th, 2010 Dayna No comments

Well, it was a close one. We (the girls) fought hard but didn’t pull it off in the end… At least we had matching T-shirts and ninja assasin sweatbands, unlike the boys, who looked like ragamuffins. We’ll get ‘em next time!

FINAL SCORE: BOYS – 29 GIRLS – 22

Take your seats and get ready for some new perspectives on the case-mate blog. Here come the Case-mate Wise-Guys (and Gal)!

This week, we’ll debut three new blog columns,  The PD Slice, The Gold Standard and The Niche Society from case-mate insiders Ashlyn Remillard, David “Goldie” Goldstein and Matt Shackleford.

Here’s a little about them:

Ashlyn

How long have you been working for case-mate? Tell us about what you do here. Since November 2009 aka like a week! I’ the Product Development Coordinator, so I whip PD into shape… 3 sets of 15 reps a day!

What phone do you currently use? Love it or hate it? iPhone and I love it – not for the apps but for the cases!

Where is the craziest / funniest place your phone has ever been? Not funny-bottom of a toilet/pool (not at the same time though).

Favorite you-tube video? The video of this little baby who gives an evil eye and then busts out laughing… and then repeats it over and over.

Favorite phone app? AP News and words with friends (scrabble).

What can’t you live or go for more than 2 hours without? I cannot live without soft lips chap stick…nor can I go more than 2 hours without it!

Goldie

How long have you been working for case-mate? Tell us about what you do here. Almost a year. I work in the sales department as the Account Manager for case-mate Europe.

What/where was your first job? A country club with two golf courses. It was great, I got to work outside and drive golf carts all day.

What was your first cell phone? Nokia  5 series. I remember playing the Snake game nonstop. The fact the phone had games on it seemed mind blowing at the time.

What features do you look for in a case? It has to be something that’s innovative and new. That way I can show you why it’s better than the one you have on your phone.

Favorite case-mate related story? I met a  very sweet girl who found out I worked at case-mate and she commented on how she loved the Recession Case promo we did. It was really Matt Shackleford in our Marketing Department who came up with the entire campaign but I told her it was all my idea in an effort to get a date.

Guilty pleasures? Reality shows and the ‘E’ channel. My friends make fun of me but the people on them fascinate and bewilder me.

Shackleford

How long have you been working for case-mate? Tell us about what you do here. I’ve been at case-mate for nearly a year and a half and I’m the brand manager for I Make My Case, yes I do have the coolest job.

What was your first cell phone? Well I’m not sure if you have ever heard of the show “Saved By The Bell,” but Zack Morris had a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, that was my first phone.

Favorite you-tube video? ‘Whips’ by Balloon Shop. Supporting my friends!

Favorite phone app? I Am T-Pain

When you’re not working at case-mate, what do you do with your spare time? Mostly spend time with my fiancee, hang out downtown, and drink coffee! Also I used to love playing my XBOX 360 but it died, so if anyone has one they want to donate I would appreciate it!

Monday Madness

January 25th, 2010 Dayna No comments

What an AWESOME Monday morning! Not only is it sunny and almost 50 degrees here in Atlanta, but our inboxes were filled with good news from the weekend.

First, we found out we won an FWA – a Favourite Website Award for IMakeMyCase.com. The awards are judged based on design, navigation, graphics, content and personality, and we’re honored to have been recognized!

We also received some updates on the review samples we sent out to our January product reviewers: it sounds like everyone is liking our new cases!
