Niche Society: Office Hacking, Part 2 – Hot Dogs

February 26th, 2010 Matt View Comments

So I’m back, sorry it’s been a few weeks since my last post. I was out in Vegas last week for MAGIC, a streetwear fashion trade show and this week I had the black plague. But alas I’m back here at the old bullpen delivering you this week’s Niche Society.

Last time I shared how to hack great coffee at your desk with everyday materials. This week I’ve employed the help of a special guest, Jeremy Jones, one of our graphic designers. Jeremy has a creation called ‘Super Hot Dogs’ and I will show you how to assemble them with the minimum office kitchen facilities.

Ingredients: 1 medium plumb, juicy red tomato; 1 crisp, pungent red onion; 1 jar of Claussen pickle spears; 1 large plastic container of off brand Mayonnaise; 1 delicious, buttery smooth avacado; 1 packet of Smithyfield down home off the farm succulent hickory smoked bacon; 1 package of Kroger brand white flour hot dog buns; 1 package of very rare Oscar Meyer hot dogs; and one blue plate.

Step 1: Take a paper towel, place it in the microwave carefully throw 3 pieces of Smithyfield down home off the farm succulent hickory smoked bacon onto the paper towel and cook for 2.5 minutes.

Step 2: Slice your plumb red tomato, pungent onion, buttery smooth avacado into spears mimicking the spear shape of the Claussen pickle spears. Also place the Smithyfield down home off the farm succulent hickory smoked bacon on the blue plate.

Step 3: Take your very rare Oscar Meyer hot dogs, place them on a paper towel and cook those little dogs for 1 minute.

Step 4: Add the dogs, the Smithyfield down home off the farm succulent hickory smoked bacon, ketchup and mayo to the bun.

Step 5: Carefully assemble your Claussen pickle spears, avacado, red onion and plump tomato on the Super Hot Dog.

Step 6: Eat every last bit, except three very large crumbs.

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Office Hacking, I’ll see you guys next week for the BEST – and the final – version of Office Hacking.

January Sample Review Round-Up

February 24th, 2010 Dayna View Comments

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with our sample reviewers and it looks like they have lots more to say about the newest products from case-mate.

Here’s a sample of some of the most recent review videos:

Thanks for taking the time to check out our stuff reviewers! Can’t wait to see what our February reviewers have to say!

Meet Jackie, Case-Mate’s Newest Team Member!

February 21st, 2010 Dayna View Comments

Please join us in welcoming Jackie Barnett to the case-mate family. Here’s a little bit about her to get y’all acquainted:

How long have you been working for case-mate? What is your new role?
One week and counting. Basically I’ll be cashing some checks and breaking some necks in the Sales Department.

What did you do before coming to case-mate?
I was living and working in Barcelona, Spain for the past year. Fue la mejor experiencia de mi vida hasta ahora en “el mundo de case-mate!”

What phone do you currently use? Love it or hate it?
LG Xenon. Hate it, but it was free, and I like free things.

What was your first cell phone?
Mmmmm, I believe it was a Nokia 6150 with a sunflower faceplate cover. She was a beaut.

What features do you look for in a case?
Creative design aesthetics and durability.

What’s your favorite case?
The gray/pink Hybrid Tough. It’s girly and strong at the same time… just like me :)

Where is the craziest / funniest place or situation your phone has ever been in?
There’s no telling, but I’m sure it saw some illegal activity with the thief that stole it from me on a Barcelona train. Unfortunately, I never saw that phone again.

Favorite web site or news-source?
The Wall Street Journal. It’s the most balanced and objective medium of news I’ve been able to find, which is really refreshing in a society that constantly tries to eliminate the consumer’s ability to form their own individual beliefs and opinions. I wake up early every morning to read it.

Favorite you-tube video?
One of my favorites is the Mobile, Alabama leprechaun news clip. It had me laughing to the point of tears.

Favorite phone app?
SitOrSquat: Bathroom Finder. It locates the nearest bathroom to your immediate location, when well, your needs are immediate.

Guilty pleasures?
Trashy celebrity mags and pretty shoes.

When you’re not working at case-mate, what do you do with your spare time?
I love being outdoors and with my wonderful friends. So I try to do as much of both as I can.

The PD Slice: Digestion

February 19th, 2010 ashlyn View Comments

After having a few weeks off cleaning up Fairbanks’ leakage, PD has decided to keep the information channel light this week. However, do not make the mistake of confusing light with irrelevant or you will really miss out.

Innovation is hard work. Inspiration for innovation is even harder. What makes case-mate so unique is that we have the ability to create our own inspiration. In PD the #1 thing that inspires us is music.

Maybe its because we have a BOOMING Bose system or maybe it’s our impeccable taste in music, either way… “music/ makes the designers/ imagination/ floooow (In Madonna’s voice.)”

If your foot’s not thumpin’ yet we will leave you with a playlist of a typical day in the life of Product Development:

New: Fuel Lite for iPhone!

February 17th, 2010 Dayna View Comments

The long-awaited Fuel Lite is finally here! After the success of the original Fuel battery pack, we have answered the high demand to make a less bulky version for lighter use.

The case not only gives your phone an added layer of protection, it fuels it up on the go – giving you the extra talk, video and internet time you need! With the Fuel Lite, you can recharge in your back pocket, and the handy-dandy on/off button and LED lights on the case  indicating the charge level give you the power to recharge efficiently!

MAGIC, we sure could have used some this afternoon…

February 16th, 2010 Dayna View Comments

Whew! It certainly has been quite the day and it’s not even close to being over yet. We got off to a good start, landing in Las Vegas about 30 minutes early. We were starving for lunch (it was already 1pm EST) and headed straight for the hotel so we could check in and hit the ground running…

After half an hour of waiting in line to get up to the reservation desk, the hotel needed a special authorization form for our rooms, so we had to get back in touch with our folks in Atlanta. About an hour later, we finally got the room situation sorted out and headed straight for the buffet. If you’re ever in Vegas, you DEFINITELY need to check out the buffet at the Aria, it’s the best – everything was so fresh and tasty!

Refreshed and revitalized, we were finally ready to hit the conference. We headed over to the Mandalay Bay Convention center – only to find that I had forgotten to bring cash for the cab and had to run into the lobby and hunt down an ATM while the cabby waited outside with Matt.

Thinking we were over the hump once we got the cabby taken care of, we both breathed sighs of relief and walked into the building…

We made our way through the maze of the lobby and headed for the huge “registration” sign, walked up and tried to pick up our badges. No luck. Turns out, we were at the registration for the Western Veterinary Conference! After making a few more stops for directions (I swear, I’m normally not directionally challenged!) we found the booth we were looking for and got our badges with plenty of time to walk the show floor and check out the latest street styles.

We’ll continue updating you as we have time to really check things out tomorrow, but here’s a sneak peek of the festivities to be found at MAGIC – a little bit different than CES, eh?
