Tell us a little about what you do for case-mate? How long have you been with the company?
I am the National Accounts Manager for the United States, and I’ve been with the company since last January. This is by far the best place I’ve ever worked for… I can totally be myself and utilize my talents. Other companies you have to fit into their “culture” and you might end up losing a little bit of yourself, but here at case-mate, our culture IS being yourself!

What phone do you currently use? Love it or hate it?
Blackberry 8520… love it! The new optical trackball is really cool and since it’s a new release we have some cool products for it that I get to test out :)

What are your favorite case-mate products and why?
Hands down the smartskin… it’s weird typing on my phone without one on it! Plus it makes my phone look really sleek and different…. that is until everyone reads this and buys one! Actually, right now most of my friends with Curves have it on their phone and when we’re all together we get them confused sometimes if we all have the same color.

What features do you look for in a case?
Protection, beauty, and functionality… I don’t see the point of having a super protective case if it’s too bulky or ugly!

When you are not working at case-mate, what do you like to do?
Sports! I play beach volleyball as often as possible… I pretty much live in my bikini when it’s warm and beach volleyball is one of the few sports where you’re supposed to wear a bikini and it’s always sponsored by beer companies and has live music so I really don’t know how it can get better than that! I also play in leagues around Atlanta for flag football, kickball, and dodgeball. I also coach fifth grade basketball for my old elementary school, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and then AAU basketball for my old high school, St. Pius. Every other week on Wednesdays I volunteer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta by reading to the terminally ill or recovering patients. Any other extra free time I have I spend with my family, boyfriend and friends, or travel!

Case-mate Hipster vs The Boxer

October 12th, 2009 Andrew Knight View Comments

Not long after writing about how an iPhone got run over and survived, another amazing story landed in my inbox today!

Dear Case-Mate,

I would like to express my appreciation for the integrity of your products. I recently purchased an iPhone and promptly looked for a fashionable durable case. After extensive research, I choose a Case-Mate Hipster iPhone case. A couple of weeks ago, while getting ready for work, I noticed my iPhone was missing off the dresser. I feared the worse and looked outside and there it was laying on our concrete patio with teeth marks showing on the outside of the case. My seventy pound boxer dog was hiding around the corner of the house when I went out to retrieve it. I open the case and could not believe what I saw. There was no broken glass, not even a scratch on the phone, in-fact the puncture marks had not even penetrated through the case.

Thanks Case-Mate, you saved me a lot of money and frustration and I will always purchase my cases from you in the future.

Sincerely,
David L.

Tell us a little about what you do for case-mate? How long have you been with the company?
At case-mate i come up with innovative solutions for products. I am an industrial designer with product development and i basically get paid to do what i love the most, design products. I sketch all day, work in 3d and bring to life the next generation design concepts for case-mate. Along with these i also guide and mentor my fellow designers on design concepts, ideas, technical info and engineering. I have been with the company for a little over 3 months.

What phone do you currently use? Love it or hate it?
I have an iPhone 3G. I absolutely love it because of the ease of use, over a million more apps and it keeps me mobile so well that i don’t carry my laptop everywhere as i used to.

What are your favorite case-mate products and why?
My favorite case-mate products are the Barely There, the Smooth and the Fuel. The barely there for style, the smooth for customization and the Fuel for functionality. Basically the three attributes that make case-mate products so awesome.

What features do you look for in a case?
With a case i want uniqueness, personality and flair. As a designer there is nothing more i would want in a product than to be different from the one next to you. We have some and are coming up with a whole new range of completely exclusive products for our customers and for the world.

When you are not working at case-mate, what do you like to do?
Basically when i am not working, i love sketching robots, cars, bikes and scifi guns. I am a huge xbox addict and spend a great deal of time playing gears of war. I also love building scaled models of old world war 2 aircrafts and collecting iconic toys and action figures. Hanging out with friends, movies, ping pong and cooking are some of my other hobbies.

Editor’s Note: Vt was one of the designers behind our new ID Case.  You can hear him talk about the design process for the ID Case on YouTube here

iPhone 3G Run Over on I40 & Survives!

October 12th, 2009 Andrew Knight View Comments

Rick W. from Dallas, TX wrote to us with a great story about how our signature leather case protected his iPhone 3G!

“After working a 14 hour day I wasn’t paying complete attention and left my iphone on the back of my Avalanche and drove back to hotel. The next morning I remembered that I had put my phone on the back of my truck and had to retrace my 6 mile drive from the night before. I was amazed that I found my phone about 3.5 miles away from the job on the side of I40 in Oklahoma City. It had apparently been run over and knocked to the side of the interstate. The case was damaged but minimal damage to the phone and it still works !!! Maximum protection !!! See photos.”
